The Daily Mail (a large newspaper in the UK) recently ran a sensationalist story under the headline: “Yale scientists who risked careers to publish bombshell Covid vaccine study issue message to shot’s victims“. 

This article – and in fact the entire conversation around COVID and its vaccines – is a good example of our society’s seeming inability to handle nuance and uncertainty. In effect, everybody now seems to claim that objective truth and “the science” are behind them on many issues, when frequently the facts are more shades of gray than of black and white. And as I’ve pointed out before, frequently the media feeds this, aiming more to sow fear and anger into the population than to educate us toward a deeper understanding of complex issues. 

I haven’t commented on the vaccines nor on COVID before, and I have a lot to say on the topic. So I am going to split this into two posts. Today I’m going to deal with the above article only; in my next post I will give you my thoughts more broadly on COVID and on the vaccines, as somebody who worked on the “front lines” during the COVID pandemic and has experience treating thousands of COVID cases.
